Here is a utility WINSCPPWD, a simple command line tool to recover WinSCP stored passwords. Here in this article I will explain how to use this WINSCPPWD utility.
Step 1:
By default all WinSCP connections are stored as part of Windows Registry, this should be changed to store connections details in a .INI file by navigating to Tools –> Preference –> Storage and select INI file radio button under ‘Configuration Storage‘.
This configuration change will store connections in a .INI file in below path
“C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\WinSCP.ini”
Step 2:
Now download WINSCPPWD utility and navigate to the folder where this utility .exe file is saved through command prompt as shown in below screen shot
Step 3:
Now use the utility by executing below command
winscppwd “C:\Users\shthallam\AppData\Roaming\WinSCP.ini”
